How are ratings calculated? To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don't use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2020 Size: Pint Unit Verified Purchase I am not the kind to write reviews often for items I purchase. I write this review with confidence I have purchased a total of 5 of these trial units over the last 2-3 months. I plan to purchase more within the next couple of days. The 5 times I have purchased this trial unit, it never fails, IF you are patient and know how to use the product as indicated. I was a little nervous the first time I worked with it because I did not want to waste $40. I am into the mold making business so this was in important task. It is NOT difficult work with this product if you follow instructions. What is very important, the most important part of mold making is that the container you are pouring the product into is well glued or contained so the silicone does not leak through any gaps. Also, you may want to secure the object you are making a mold from. Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2020 Size: Pint Unit Verified Purchase At a loss... I had to try to order this twice... first, the package was magically lost, which I credit that largely in part to Amazon. The second time it was actually delivered, and as the photos suggest, I'm kinda leaning more toward the fact that the first order may have actually failed to stay in its packaging as it may have leaked so badly it actually may have been thrown in the trash. Upon first inspection I though maybe that the part A had leaked, as the cap was slightly undone. When I took the cap off the foil seal was intact... then I looked at part B and took the cap off and saw that the foil was indeed intact, but looks to have failed somehow... very displeased. Feeling the weights on the bottles I'm not even sure how much is missing to make this a true 2 pound kit... I'm one of those "well maybe what is pictured won't happen to me" with damage or leakages. This makes me rethink that stance, as this seller/product has a huge issue with this.. I'll update if they make it right... but I haven't seen that in the other 1 stars....so here to optimism. 1.0 out of 5 stars Just don't.... save yourself the hassle of cleanup At a loss... Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021 Size: Pint Unit Verified Purchase So far so good with what I can see on my mold. I read the reviews and was worried about several things. One being working time. Which there was plenty of time. I only used 26 minutes of the supposedly 45 minutes. Second worry was that my product wouldn't be good when I opened them. I used two kits, mixed all four bottle separately. Then I mixed the part As and Bs together with themselves. I then mixed the As and Bs together with a sturdy paint stick in a one gallon paint mix plastic bucket. I mixed them for three minutes by hand. I then degassed the mixed solution for about 3 minutes and 30 seconds in my vacuum chamber. It poured into my mold wonderfully. I did all this at 68° f. Once the mold was poured i moved the temp to 73° for well over the cure time. Im so please with this product I've decided to do a few more. I hope the results are the same. Shipping and all that other stuff went well too. Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2021 Size: Pint Unit Verified Purchase I recieved this product after ordering from this seller about a year ago. I figured I would purchase from the same seller again because this product can easily be stored wrong or defective on arrival. Unfortunately, upon arriving- I checked the product and everything seemed fine. When I opened the seal on the top, it came off extremely easy. Additionally, the hardener product smelled suspiciously like Irish Spring liquid gel soap and not like the silicone "rubbery" smell that I remembered. Not thinking that much of it, I stirred the two parts together as directed using a scale and poured into my ring mold. The product never hardened, and I was left with a mess to dispose of. While cleaning out my mold of the gunk, the product became sudsy. I'm pretty sure someone popped the top off a container, refilled it with gel soap, and then shipped this out as if it were the real deal. Not very happy because I can't return and the product is definitely not cheap. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER. Images in this review Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2021 Size: Pint Unit Verified Purchase I bought this to make replacement moulds, so naturally, I cut up the old moulds into bits and sprinkled them into the mixture (already mixed 1:1) to add more volume. After 6 hours since pouring onto the master the surface was firm, but when I extracted the mould, I realised that areas with a bit of recycled silicone never cured. Something about the recycled silicone from previous projects reacts badly with this brand. Ruined a bunch of masters which costed $50 each to make........... If you want to use this, DONT USE SCRAP SILICONE. Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2020 Size: Pint Unit Verified Purchase The seller I got this from did a terribly job of packing the items. They were in rough shape when they were delivered, but the product worked just fine. The only issue is that in the part A and B containers, I received more of one than the other. So there was a wasted amount that I couldn't use, which isnt great. I hope smooth-on measures their amounts better in the future for their kits. I could have done another small mold if there was equal amounts of both parts. Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2018 Size: Pint Unit Verified Purchase for small projects this works well but expensive to buy trials if you have larger projects. We used three trials up and still needed gallon sizes to complete the project. If you can determine how much you need first might save yourself $$. Search for distributors in your state for larger quantities. Reviews with images

My initial and ongoing molds have been a success. I have made custom molds for customers and they have been 100% content and satisfied.

.
Product was thoroughly mixed and the room was kept at 73 degrees through out the curing process.
.
Product arrived with a lot of settling the containers.
$70 dollars later I must try to salvage my master and start over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, strong, excellent detail capture

Easy to use, great working time and strong upon curing. It's also well worth mentioning that the level of detail you can capture with this product is mind blowing. Work as advertised, and intended which is ideally what you want for any product at the end of the day.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for small molds.

This stuff is the best! I'm molding small resin pieces for jewelry and displays, and using the Crystal Clear resin in the molds.
I realized after two molds, that my cure time was longer because my house was a little cold. But really. It ended up with no air bubbles in it even!! I'm in love.

Very Good, very supple, dries in 4hours, and has a good final texture.
5.0 out of 5 stars If you think you've mixed it well enough, keep mixing!

The product was very good to work with. It took a fair amount of time to set, so there wasn't an issue with it setting up before I was ready. The part "A" of the mixture it very thick, and part "B" isn't. "A" will want to sink when "B" will sit on top. So mix, mix, mix! I mixed mine quite a lot and there was still some marbling in the bottom. It didn't affect the set up. If you have very detailed items to cast, there will be lots of bubbles. Tap the sides gently and they'll come up. If you are planning on making multiple part molds with this product, be sure to get the Mold release. I didn't, and had to cut my pieces apart. It worked for what I was doing, but might not for all items.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple to use and efficient

The product is easy to mix (use a scale), the mix of colors tells you when ready to use, it is tick enough to hold itself but will fit the tiniest crack, will cure in 4-6 hours (I added an infrared heater to help), will detach easily and remain flexible, solid and firm after curing. I use it to duplicate concrete wall stones and it works very well.
NB: Make sure your structure has no leak otherwise the liquid rubber will seek through.
